Decisions Decisions...

HI! My name is Ali, and I am creating this blog to begin highlighting some VERY important experiences I am having in my life...
                                       i.e: Mission.Travel.Life.Love.Marriage.Baby Carriage...
I recently decided to serve a mission for the LDS Church, and I couldn't be more excited! I have always craved change and travel, and so deciding to serve a mission seemed like an amazing opportunity to me, but it certainly wasn't an easy decision to make. My experience pretty much went as follows...

Listening to my cousin's song instead of conference... (whoops, but it's amazing... listen to it!Wait on You) .Dad walks in.Pale as a ghost.
Dad Speaks... " Ali, the mission age has changed... you can now serve at 19"
                                            (Hysterical Laughter on my part)
Dad, you are such a kidder at times, Good one though!
suddenly my phone goes off in a chorus of annoyingly generic ringtones... Recieve ALL the TEXTS! ... fist pump...:)
"Ali did you hear the news?" "Ali! I'm going on a mission""MIssion age change""Are  you going to go on a mission"" I thought of you when I read this""Let's break up... you need to go on a mission"( just making sure you're paying attention:)
I turn on conference, I rewind it... and

BOOM!

"As we have prayerfully pondered the age at which young men may begin their missionary service, we have also given consideration to the age at which a young woman might serve. Today I am pleased to announce that able, worthy young women who have the desire to serve may be recommended for missionary service beginning at age 19, instead of age 21."

WHAAAAT!!!!!

Now it becomes serious, I can serve a mission right now should I choose. This came with major impact into my life as I felt like all of my other decisions just weren't matching up, and I had become frustrated ( I really love having fun plans for my future:)
So I went directly downstairs and prayed. I prayed to my Father in Heaven to know if a mission was right for me. I ended up reading in D&C 9:8.  "behold, I say unto you, that you must study it out in your mind; then you must ask me if it be right, and if it is right I will cause that your bosom shall burn within you; therefore, you shall feel that it is right."

So... I decided to begin a fast right then and there. I listened to the rest of conference, and that saturday evening I asked my dad to give me a blessing.
Letsbehonest....
I was hoping for a direct answer.
I should have known it would take time. and teach me patience.like all things in life:)

I was told to continue to pray, and that I would be led to know. So I did. Hard. And I hit the books!( scriptures) and the next morning, I decided that I "had a desire" and so I was "called to the work". (D&C 4:3)

I felt such a powerful peace, and all of conference I was emotional and impacted. I decided to go for it!
GOOD CHOICE!!!

I would love to share more of my insights and mess ups... Cuz They're Abundant!!! ( Mostly the Mess UPs:)
But... moderation in all things, right!

So... Dzien Dobry!!!! (Polish:)
The Church is True!!
